"When I "moved up" from an 8.4V Black and Decker to a 12V Craftsman, I thought I had arrived in life. Due to some incompetence at the Orange Box, I picked up a brand new 759KA for $89 (read it and weep!). It is incredible–loads of power, long lasting and quick charging batteries, easy to hold for long periods of time, one hand chuck, good feel in the hand, and dual speed range (IMHO) is just right. It was my first DeWalt tool, and I have since picked up a 16 ga finish nailer that is equally great. FYI: my old B&D still works well (battery is phenomenal; go figure) and my Craftsman did well but the batteries died at the 13 month mark.
You won't be unhappy with this tool, and unless you need a bulkier and heavier 18V drill, this is up to anything. The batteries are not the "XRP" designation but I can't see any room for improvement with the "plain" DeWalt 18V batteries."
