If you take a moment and think about technology, there is a migration pattern that is true for all products, cordless battery powered grease guns among them.

Can cordless tool rechargeable batteries be rejuvenated?
Batteries for cordless tools seem to work well for a while, then soon don't hold a charge well. I have heard there is a way to rejuvenate these so that they perform more like new, but don't know how it is done.
Answer:
You need to put them through a deep discharge cycle and then charge them back up. For some reason, rechargeable batteries - especially Ni-Cads - develop a discharge memory when they are recharged before being allowed to fully discharge. That is, if you only discharge them to about half their capacity, they will eventually "learn" this and will only last to that 1/2 capacity.
Put the battery into the tool and turn it on. When the tool goes dead, let it sit for a while (half hour?) and turn it on again (there should be a bit of residual energy left). Do this a few times until the tool just won't run anymore. Now go charge the batteries. When they're charged, do another deep discharge/recharge cycle. Repeat this a few times and it should increase the charge capacity of the battery back to what it used to be.
